Magistrate dismisses Chin’ono’s exception to public violence charges

Update on the Hopwell Chin'ono case before the courts on the incitement to commit public violence charge.

Harare magistrate Vongai Guwuriro on 26 May 2021 dismissed journalist Hopewell Chin’ono’s exception to charges of incitement to commit public violence.

Following the magistrate’s ruling, Chin’ono’s trial has been set for 12 July 2021.

The magistrate made the ruling following arguments on the exception to the charges that had been made by both the defence  and the prosecution on 17 May 2021.
