What happened
On 30 September 2026, Bulawayo24 journalist Gideon Madzikatidze’s application to refuse further remand was denied when he appeared before Magistrate Elisha Mahuriro.
According to his lawyers, the court did not give reasons for its decision.

The matter was subsequently remanded to 29 October 2026 for a possible trial date.
Madzikatidze, who is out on bail, is facing two charges:
- Contravening Section 7 (1) as read with subsection 4 (b) of the Broadcasting Services Act [Chapter 12:06] (providing a broadcasting service without a licence).
- Cyberbullying as defined in Section 164B of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act [Chapter 9:23].
