Ruling in journalist Mhlanga’s bail application tomorrow

What happened

High Court judge Justice Gibson Mandaza is set to deliver his judgment on the bail application for detained Alpha Media Holdings senior journalist Blessed Mhlanga on 21 March 2025.

Mhlanga’s lawyer, Chris Mhike, stated that the ruling will be delivered at 10am tomorrow.

Justice Mandaza reserved his judgment on 17 March 2025 to allow time for consideration of submissions from the defence and the State.

Mhlanga is facing two counts of contravening Section 164 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act which deals with transmitting data messages inciting violence or damage to property.
