During its 2018 Annual General Meeting (AGM) that was held today at Royal Village Hotel in Dodoma, the Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Tanzania Chapter has elected a National Governing Council (NGC) that will serve the Organization for the next three years.
Ms. Salome Kitomary who served as the Interim Chairperson for one year was elected as the new Chairperson, and she will be assisted by Advocate James Marenga as Vice Chairperson and Mr. Michael Gwimile as the Treasurer of MISA Tanzania. The other two members that comprise the 5-member NGC were Mr. Musa Juma and Ms. Idda Mushi
Earlier on Mr Bujaga Izengo Kadago, who was the Chairperson of the Electoral Committee for this year’s election informed the meeting about election guidelines that were used during the process. Mr Kadago said that the first three posts were picked according to the 2013 amended MISA-Tan Constitution election guideline number 12. The guideline states that, “where there is only one candidate who fills in a valid nomination on any position, that candidate shall be declared as having been elected unopposed”. According to him only one person filled each of the posts mentioned and were automatically declared having won unopposed.
The other candidates were subjected to a voting process in which three candidates contested. They were Musa Juma, Edwin Soko and Idda Mushi. The Chairperson declared Idda Mushi and Musa Juma as winners.
MISA Tanzania held its AGM to discuss among other things the economic status of the organization, new plans and introduced new members.
